This Tragic Theophany Feels Like a Pop Epiphany in Crystalline Thunderbolts Pierce the Sacred Mountain’s Angelic Realm…

An angel on a pink cloud with a rainbow streaming from its neck into a starry sky.

This might be the happiest black metal (?) record I’ve ever heard, and it’s also one of the most grating. In the message from Gnaw their Tongues promoting it, it was described as Blast Break Beat TM, black metal vocals with over-the-top epic synths, with lyrics about an unhealthy obsession with celestial beings, rainbows, murder, delirium and psychosis.

It’s catchy and poppy. None of that should work together, but here I am loving the fuck out of it. “No label wanted to do anything with it and it’s one of my favorite things I recorded.” I believe both halves of that.

If you know Gnaw Their Tongues for the crushing, ugly stuff, I think you’ll like this.

It’s for anyone who wants black metal that’s actually fun without turning into a joke,

Digital is about 5 bucks, vinyl is 20ish and limited to 500 copies. I’m buying the vinyl. Selfishly I hope it doesn’t sell out before I get to it. For their sake, I hope this sells out.
