Crated is a music player for music stored on your phone. It is made by Brad Cooper (uxBrad).
The short version. Crated has no account, no ads and no analytics. The developer does not collect, receive or sell any information about you or your music.
What stays on your phone. Your music, collections, playlists, favorites, queue, settings and any pictures you choose for your collections or albums are stored only on your phone.
What is sent over the internet. Only when you choose “Use cover from internet” on an album, Crated sends that album’s title and artist name to MusicBrainz (musicbrainz.org), which finds the album, and then downloads the cover picture from the Cover Art Archive (coverartarchive.org). Nothing else is sent, and nothing is sent unless you tap that option. Those services are run by the MetaBrainz Foundation and the Internet Archive, and their own privacy policies apply to those requests.
Purchases. Crated Pro is a one time purchase made through Google Play. Google handles the payment and the receipt, under Google’s own terms and privacy policy. Crated receives only whether Pro is owned, and remembers that on your phone. The developer does not receive your payment details or your name.
Changing your music files. If you use Crated Pro to fix album tags, Crated writes the corrected album name into the tags of the music files you choose. Android asks for your permission first, and only those files change. The audio itself is not altered.
Permissions. Crated asks to read audio files so it can list your music. It asks for notification permission so playback controls can show on your lock screen. It uses the internet only as described above. It does not use your location, contacts, camera or microphone.
Crash details. If Crated crashes, the details are saved on your phone. They are sent only if you open About and choose Send crash details, and you see them in your email or messaging app before they go. They contain no music or personal data.
Backups. If Android backup is on, Google may back up Crated’s collections, playlists and settings with your other app data under your rolled by your phone’s settings.
Children. Crated does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices. You can delete your collections, playlists and pictures inside Crated, or remove everything by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling it. Because the developer holds no data about you, there is nothing to requr’s side.
Changes. If this policy changes, the date above changes.
