I’ll be honest—at first, I wasn’t sure about this one. The intro had a vibe that reminded me of Bal-Sagoth, which isn’t usually my thing. But once the album kicked in, it started hitting pretty hard. Raw, loud, and just the right kind of weird.
And I love weird. But it has to be the kind of weird that’s rough, a little obnoxious, and totally unbothered by expectations. Early on, there were moments that felt like they were reaching for something interesting, but didn’t quite land for me. Then came the third track and it started to catch a groove that I liked – with an Abigor approach to structure. It got cool.
There are definite ups and downs across the runtime, but even in the less memorable parts, there’s something intriguing or strange around the corner.
This feels like a band still shaping their voice, and that’s part of the appeal—there’s potential here, and I get the feeling their next release is going to be stronger.
So let’s show them that we want more albums. This one is ‘name-your-price’ on Bandcamp so you can’t go wrong.
